Birmingham and Halesowen Shotokan Karate Club is a very traditional Shotokan Karate club under the tuition and guidance of Chief Instructor Sensei Cummins. We are affiliated to NAKMAS National Governing Body (The National Association of Karate and Martial Arts Schools)
Sensei Cummins has been training for over 50 years in the art of Karate and is still training and teaching at the youthful age of 76. Sensei Cummins has the legacy of being graded by the top legendary JKA instructors and has personally trained at the JKA Honbu in Japan. He is one of a select group of instructors outside of Japan who are registered as JKA Kodansha. He has trained with a vast amount of the World’s top Sensei from Europe and Japan and is now well renowned around the World himself.

Sensei Cummins has trained countless regional, national and international champions, each and every year for over three decades. Sensei Cummins truly is a Shotokan living legend, in our generation and one of the most experienced Shotokan practitioners in the western hemisphere.
Sensei Cummins has appeared on the covers of “Shotokan Magazine”, “Combat” and “Traditional Karate” and is a “Combat” Hall of Fame Inductee. He has also featured several times in the press, media and TV appearing on popular shows including The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
Not only a Shotokan Karate-ka, but a martial arts historian as well, Sensei Cummins teaches not for fame or fortune but for the enjoyment of passing on is infinite knowledge and experience to the next generation of students.
